Leave Those Things Behind

Leave Those Things Behind

By Dr. Luauna Stines

People get caught up in the hurts of yesterday and even hold on to last years betrayals. Don’t! You must learn to LET GO, TO LET GOD. For we have been building a hidden treasure within. Whether good or evil, every day we draw from this treasure chest from within our hearts. But then Jesus comes and we are called to change the things within the treasure box, of our heart.

What we have been putting for years into that hidden box in our hearts will come out. Sometimes without even realizing, it becomes filled with things which cause damage to your today and tomorrows. Without notice, you pull out the old things. This is why sometimes our lives play out in such confusion. We must replace what has been placed in our hearts before salvation, with God’s Word. When we come into the Kingdom of God, we’re like a child again, 2 Corinthians 5:17; “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Thank God! Then new training starts to take place by the Holy Spirit. Proverbs 22:6; “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

When we stop and look at our life, we see the things we have learned, come out of us automatically. It’s only through Jesus that we find freedom within. A while back I was working with a young man who was raised with an extremely abusive father; he learned his earthly father’s patterns. He had to learn everything over which he had been taught as a child. It’s like “Stinkin’ thinkin’!” Not everything we’ve learned growing up is right before God. This is why we must read and learn God’s Word. The Bible brings life and freedom. God’s promises written in the Bible, when received, unfold God’s treasures for you and me. We must let go of the old, and put on the new. Take the new, so your whole life can change.

Romans 6:1-7; “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.”

Many miss out by holding on to the old way of life, holding on to the old man. By holding on to the old, the new man in Christ Jesus is limited. It’s a process. You can have an amazing new life, let go and let God. Be wise what you put in your heart; because whatever you put it is gonna come out.
